The Basics

Understanding the Program

Whether you’re seeking treatment for yourself or a loved one, it’s important to remember that addiction is a disease that changes the brain. Once alcohol and drugs gain control over your life, it is difficult to stop. While it may not feel like it right now, recovery is possible. You can take back your life and recover from substance abuse, but it may involve carving out time to attend the therapy programs at a residential treatment center.

Beginning your recovery within a residential treatment center provides space away from triggers. Then you can focus on yourself and the intensive therapeutic work needed to get better. This helps maintain long-term recovery.

Understanding the Program

What Is Residential Treatment?

South Coast Behavioral Health’s residential treatment centers offer a safe and comfortable environment for individuals in recovery from substance abuse. During residential treatment at South Coast, guests remain in our facility throughout their time in our program. In turn, they are immersed in an intensive treatment program that focuses on helping them achieve long-term recovery. The care provided in residential treatment aims to treat the complex physical, emotional, and psychological elements of this debilitating disease.

Comprehensive residential treatment includes 24/7 medical management of withdrawal symptoms and medications. It also includes therapeutic support that helps guests address their underlying issues with drug and alcohol use. The goal of residential treatment is to reduce your reliance on substances.  It also helps provide you with the opportunity to learn new skills and build a more resilient lifestyle for relapse prevention.

Been twice. Best place to go to. Heard many people say theyve been to multiple rehabs and that this was the best one. Staff genuinely genuinely cares and have personal experiences.

I walked through those doors only focused on detox. I ended up staying 30 days, because of my roommate, staff and the vibe. Ty SCBH, for giving me my life back. I was drowning and you pulled me out the deep end. The staff was so empathetic and understanding. If you are struggling... go, learn and learn. What I've been given back is priceless. Check em out!

South Coast is a wonderful place for any addict who needs help with their addiction. I had been in addiction for over 15 years and finally found my recovery solution with this facility. It was clean and very friendly. All of the facility, medical, and nursing staff were amazing and honestly listen to you. The groups were and people were so welcoming and informative about addiction and made me feel as though I wasn't an outcast for being an addict. I want to thank South Coast for being so gracious and caring to my addiction needs. If you are needing help with your addiction this is the place where you can find freedom from your disease of addiction and live happily in life. It definitely saved my life and now I get to be the Mother and Grandma my kiddos need!

My mother-in-law was needing help with her addiction and this facility was a god send! She was very pleased with all the staff and told me all about how much she learned so much about herself and her addiction. Also, how all the facilitators, medical and nursing staff were so compationate and caring. She is now working a program and doing amazing. She credits South Coast for helping her get her life back on track.

Length of stay varies depending on individual needs, clinical recommendations, progress, and the treatment plan. Discuss expected timing with the admissions and clinical teams.

Medical detox focuses on safely managing withdrawal symptoms. Residential treatment provides a live-in setting for continued clinical care, therapy, recovery education, and skill building after detox when that level of care is appropriate.

Treatment may include assessment and support for co-occurring mental health conditions. The care team can explain which services are available and appropriate for an individual’s needs.

Communication depends on the guest’s authorization and applicable privacy requirements. Ask the treatment team about the program’s communication process and how family can be involved appropriately.

What happens when I leave residential treatment?

The team can help plan next steps, which may include PHP, IOP, outpatient counseling, peer support, or other resources based on your needs and recommendations.
