The Basics

Understanding the Program

Royal Life Centers Oklahoma City offers a continuum of care ranging from inpatient to outpatient. Following treatment in medical detox and residential inpatient care, guests transition into the partial hospitalization level of care.

Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) in OKlahoma City introduces guests to the key aspects of change as they rebuild strong, sober lives rooted in personal growth, passion, and wellness. The added structure helps guests maintain long-term recovery after leaving PHP or our intensive outpatient program (IOP). In addition, we encourage guests to attend 12-step meetings during the PHP level of care. During both phases of our outpatient treatment, guests have the option to return home or reside in a local sober living residence.

Understanding PHP

What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a form of intensive outpatient treatment for alcohol addiction and drug addiction, making it a type of outpatient rehab and outpatient addiction treatment for people living at home or in sober living. Partial hospitalization programs offer tailored treatments, as each Guest may need different supports or interventions depending on the severity of the addiction. In general, PHP rehab offers intensive outpatient treatment services designed for those who require more support than traditional outpatient services but don’t need the level of care provided by an inpatient facility. PHP often runs up to six hours a day, five days a week, and can be a step-down level of care after inpatient treatment.

A quality partial hospitalization program in the OKC area offers comprehensive care with individualized care built around your needs, goals, and recovery history. Because addiction and co-occurring mental illness often overlap, both should be treated at the same time for the best results, including common conditions like depression and anxiety. In PHP, clients receive services such as individual therapy, group therapy, and individual counseling, along with medication support and other therapeutic interventions that promote personal growth. PHP can also help bridge the gap between inpatient programs and other outpatient programs when you need structured support without residential care.

I walked through those doors only focused on detox. I ended up staying 30 days, because of my roommate, staff and the vibe. Ty SCBH, for giving me my life back. I was drowning and you pulled me out the deep end. The staff was so empathetic and understanding. If you are struggling... go, learn and learn. What I've been given back is priceless. Check em out!

South Coast is a wonderful place for any addict who needs help with their addiction. I had been in addiction for over 15 years and finally found my recovery solution with this facility. It was clean and very friendly. All of the facility, medical, and nursing staff were amazing and honestly listen to you. The groups were and people were so welcoming and informative about addiction and made me feel as though I wasn't an outcast for being an addict. I want to thank South Coast for being so gracious and caring to my addiction needs. If you are needing help with your addiction this is the place where you can find freedom from your disease of addiction and live happily in life. It definitely saved my life and now I get to be the Mother and Grandma my kiddos need!

My mother-in-law was needing help with her addiction and this facility was a god send! She was very pleased with all the staff and told me all about how much she learned so much about herself and her addiction. Also, how all the facilitators, medical and nursing staff were so compationate and caring. She is now working a program and doing amazing. She credits South Coast for helping her get her life back on track.

As you make progress, your care team can help identify the next level of support. The right plan depends on your clinical needs, recovery goals, and living situation.

Intensive outpatient (IOP)

Continue structured therapy with an intensive outpatient program that typically meets three to five days a week and may allow more time for daily responsibilities, while flexible outpatient programs provide continued recovery support.

Outpatient counseling

Maintain progress through ongoing therapy and other services recommended for your needs, with outpatient counseling as part of outpatient rehab in Oklahoma City to help you maintain sobriety through continued individual therapy and support; these programs often last one to three months, depending on your needs.

Peer and alumni support

Recovery communities, support groups, and continuing support can help you stay connected after treatment through alumni and community connections that help you maintain sobriety and continue your recovery journey.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

In many cases, yes. PHP is often referred to as a day rehab program because clients attend structured treatment during the day and return home or to sober living in the evening.

Usually not. PHP does not typically include overnight stays, though some people pair it with supportive housing depending on their needs and treatment plan.

It varies based on the individual treatment plan and schedule intensity, but many programs run several weeks with sessions held multiple days per week.

Yes. PHP can treat both, and co-occurring care is important because it may address mental illness alongside substance use as part of a personalized recovery journey. This is especially helpful for people who need support that bridges services such as alcohol rehab, therapy, and relapse prevention.

What is the difference between PHP and IOP?

PHP generally provides a more intensive and structured schedule than intensive outpatient treatment (IOP). IOP typically offers fewer treatment hours, often meeting three to five days a week, and greater flexibility. A professional assessment can help determine the appropriate level of care.

Depending on your progress and needs, the next step may be IOP, outpatient counseling, medication management, peer support, or another continuing-care service.
